A very touching remembrance of the great violinist, David Oistrakh, handwritten by the violinist and pedagogue Joseph Gingold in his characteristically large handwriting. One page, written on both sides. In part: "I join the millions of music lovers and musicians throughout the world who mourn the loss of David Oistrakh...one of the greatest violinists of this century, a splendid conductor and a marvelous teacher, he was also one of the most lovable human beings that I have ever had the privilege of knowing..." Unsigned and undated, but most likely written right after Oistrakh's death in 1974. Fine condition other than a tiny nick in upper right corner. Provenance: Gingold estate.
