[Schoenberg, Arnold. (1874–1951)] Kubelik, Rafael. (1914–1996) & Stewart, Thomas. (1928–2006) & Traxel, Josef. (1916–1975) & Patzak, Julius. (1898–1974) & Krebs, Helmut. (1913–2007). Signed Program from the Premiere of "Die Jakobsleiter".
Signed program from the June 16, 1961 premiere of Schoenberg's oratorio Die Jakobsleiter as part of the Wiener Festwochen. Signed over the program listing by conductor Rafael Kubelik and singers Thomas Stewart, Josef Traxel, Julius Patzak, and Helmut Krebs. 12 pp., including notes and translations. In fine condition, together with two small promotional flyers and a change-of-personnel flyer. 5.5 x 8.25 inches (14 x 21 cm).

Die Jakobsleiter (Jacob's Ladder) marks Schoenberg's transition from a contextual or free atonality to the twelve-tone technique anticipated in the oratorio's use of hexachords. Though ultimately unfinished by Schoenberg, the piece was prepared for performance by Schoenberg student Winfried Zillig at the request of Gertrude Schoenberg. The fragment left by Schoenberg received a partial premiere - 160 bars - in 1958, and the work was premiered as far as possible in Vienna on June 16, 1961, conducted by Rafael Kubelik.
