Barere, Simon. (1896 - 1951). Signed Program. Elusive signed program from the renowned Russian-born American virtuoso pianist, celebrated for his legendary speed and finger dexterity. On 2 April 1951, Barere suffered a cerebral hemorrhage during a performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto at Carnegie Hall, with Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra. Barere subsequently collapsed and died backstage shortly thereafter.

Original 1939 recital program, boldly signed and in very fine condition. Signed programs of Barere are uncommon.
