Hahn, Reynaldo. (1874 - 1947). Autograph Letter to his Publisher. Autograph letter from the young composer. 3 pp. [N.p, n.d., but 1891 - 1895], addressed "Cher Monsieur," evidently to his Publisher and mentioning his teacher, Jules Massenet who lived in Pont-de-L'Arche from 1891 - 1895. In French, translated in part: "I leave tomorrow for Pont-de-l'Arche, and I am charged by my Master to bring him the proofs if they are ready for him. Please have the goodness to place them in the able hands of the carrier of this letter. I have finally received from London the authorization to publish the little pieces and I desire to have you hear them...can you give me a half-hour one of these mornings, after Saturday? A thousand affectionate thanks, Reynaldo Hahn." Mounting remnants to corners, otherwise fine.
The highly original Venezuelan-born French composer was responsible for some of the most beautiful works of the period. Marcel Proust, the great writer who was Hahn's lover, wrote that "everything I have done has always been thanks to Reynaldo."
