A beautiful early 19th century engraving depiciting the performance of an opera in a theater. The perspective is of an audience member in a box at stage right, looking out to the stage with an elaborate set and two singers, the conductor at his podium, the orchestra seated in separate banks or stalls by section, and audience members across in other boxes as well as on the level of the orchestra. A small cut word "Schauspiele" has been affixed to the bottom of the page, which also bears the number 273.
