Verdi, Giuseppe. (1813-1901). Letter Fragment.

Fragment of an autograph letter draft, seemingly signed "GV" within the largely indecipherable text, thanking the recipient for the flowers, mentioning a debt, noting that hew will be visiting Geneva (?) and he "can't wait to get to Genova even though a little late" and that "my wife and daughter went to the first theater together..." The writing is entirely in the hand of the composer. This letter was torn in half and discarded but saved by a servant who later sold it to an American collector after the composer's death.
