A significant collection of signed photographs autographs from opera singers, dancers, musicians and other performers, principally French, of the early twentieth century, including an autograph letter and signed photograph from the brilliant soprano Yvonne Brothier, and signed photographs from French sopranos Gabrielle Ritter-Ciampi, Yvonne Gall, Marthe Chenal, and Germaine Lubin, Danish ballerina Toni Lander and many other opera singers and dancers, as well as autograph signatures from Olympic fencer Lucien Gaudin and the well-known Italian puppeteer Vittorio Podrecca. Many of the autographs are inscribed to collector Monique Paravicini Simon (1916-2003). Complete items listed below. Most signed photographs on mounted on 3.5 x 5.5 inch cards. Autograph letter (November 30, 1928, 1 p.) to an unnamed recipient, regarding her early operatic performances under Pierre Monteux in Amsterdam. Translated from the French, in part: "Dear Sir, Madame Bourget tells me that you would like to have a few signed words from me on the subject of French performances in Amsterdam. Many thanks on my own behalf and thanks above all for informing your readers about the admirable publicity which is being done there by Monteux and the Société Vaquer." Folding crease with two small splits, several tears and chips to edges; overall good. Together with a halftone photograph mounted on a signed card (dated on the verso: December 18, 1932).
