Scarce signed postcard photograph, ca. 1970, of the gifted English pianist and composer described as "a genius of enormous sensitivity and very great humour" (Peter Maxwell Davies).  Regarded as a "gentle giant", known and loved for his kindness and generosity, he had tremendous energy but was later diagnosed with schizophrenia, then manic depression (now referred to as bipolar disorder). He died tragically young of pneumonia, brought on by undiagnosed diabetes. 9.5 x 14.5 cm. Fine.
