[Dvorák, Antonín Leopold. (1841-1904)]. Stabat Mater - Original 1885 New York Concert Program. Original concert program from an early American performance of the composer's sacred cantata Stabat Mater, given in Albany, NY on February 14, 1885 to benefit the Child's Hospital. Written only five years earlier and premiered in Prague in December 1880, the piece was the composer's response to the death of his daughter, Josefa. The present program also included works by Henschel and Brahms, and was given for the benefit of the Child's Hospital by the Choral Club of Albany, conducted by Gerrit Smith. Graphically interesting cover, printed partially in metallic ink. 4 pp. 8.75 x 11 inches. Date and name penned to margins of front cover, small tear and fold to right edge, else fine.
