[Cotton Club]. Original Cotton Club Invitation and Ticket.
A pair of original 1930's entrance tickets to the influential jazz club, one in the form of an invitation with blank spaces for a date and signature, and the other a small numbered tear ticket, still intact. The address of 322 No. 17th St. suggests that the tickets may come from the Philadelphia Ridge Cotton Club, incorporated in 1935 in the Ridge Avenue Entertainment District. Pencil notes to the recto and verso of the large ticket, including a detailed struck-through list of budget items on the verso (perhaps the expenses of a traveling jazz musician). Overall fine. 5 x 3 inches (12.8 x 7.6 cm) and 3 x 1 inches (7.6 x 2.9 cm).
