[Schumann, Robert. (1810–1856) & Liszt, Franz. (1811–1886)]. Sammelband of 19th-Century Piano Music.
An interesting late-19th-century sammelband of music for piano and piano four hands, including early editions by Schumann and Liszt, as well as interesting 19th-century editions of Chopin, Weber and many others, unusual American printings from Cleveland and Baltimore, and a piece dedicated to the Yale class of 1875. The volume contains approx. 25 items of music bound in half leather, with leather ownership label of Helen M. Lough to the front board. Of the items included, particularly interesting are Schumann's 20 Feuillets D'Album (Paris: G. Flaxland, [1860]; 43 pp.), commonly known as Albumblätter but here with each movement titled in French and with the movements in an alternate order; Liszt's Soirées Musicales de Rossini: La Regata Veneziana (Mayence: Chez les Fils de B. Schott, [ca. 1840]; 7 pp.); and the Sounds of Mirth Galop by G. B. White, "dedicated to the Class of 1875, Yale College" (New Haven: C. M. Loomis, [1875]). Spine and edges rubbed; some light internal foxing; a few pages with horizontal tears; overall very good. 10.5 x 14 inches.
