Madame Fodor [Joséphine Fodor-Mainvielle, 1789-1870)] the great French soprano, performed both of the roles of Susanna and the Contessa (opposite Pasta!) in performances of Figaro at the King's Theatre, where she sang beginning in 1816. One contemporary account noted that she "was never heard to more advantage than in this masterpiece; all her songs and her duets were executed with extreme purity, delicacy, and expression."
