Original two-sided broadside advertisement for the first-ever performance of "Tristan und Isolde" given at the Bayreuth Festival, directed by Cosima Wagner in eight performances from July 25th to August 19th, 1886. With information on the cast on Sunday, August 8th, and on train connections; verso with the seating arrangement ("Sitz-Einteilung des Richard Wagner-Theaters").  Overall toning, small loss to upper left edge, creases, else fine. 18 x 11.5 inches (47 x 30 cm).

Universally acknowledged to be one of the high-points of the operatic repertory, the libretto and music for Tristan were written and composed by Wagner himself. The opera had its Premier in Munich on June 10, 1865 under the baton of Hans von Bülow.
