Two original pen and ink drawings by the British artist, both accomplished on wove paper ca. 1980.  The first features a pair of a portraits of Henry Geldzahler, curator at the Metropolitan Museum and a longtime friend of Hockney's, and the second is a page of abstract sketch doodles in orange ink that includes a reclining figure lower center.  Both with very small, minor spotting, but in otherwise fine condition.  Measures 3.75 x 12 inches (10 x 30.4 centimeters) and  8 x 10 inches (20.5 x 25.4 centimeters), respectively.

Provenance: Christopher Hanley Scott (1945–2002), partner to Henry Geldzahler (1935–1994); private collection, New York.

Hockney met Geldzahler, a bespectacled man with a prominent beard, at Andy Warhol's New York apartment in the 1960's.  They became close friends and travel companions, sharing a sense of humor, interests, and many similar life experiences.  Through their friendship, Geldzahler and his partner Christopher became the subjects of numerous works by Hockney, including the sketch in the present offering.
