Signed oblong sepia tone photograph of the American composer who melded the jazz idiom with classical music forms in a number of timeless orchestral and stage works, including Rhapsody in Blue and Porgy and Bess, boldly inscribed in black ink to lower blank margin, "Sincerely, George Gershwin." An attractive uninscribed example, in evidently damaged but nicely restored condition, with visible creases throughout, evidence of tear repairs to several places, a few spots of professional in-painting, chip to upper left corner, fully laid down to support backing and in stable condition despite these evident faults. 8 x 10 inches (20.3 x 25.4 cm.).
