Short but highly interesting TLS from the American man of letters to a "Mr. Corry," reflecting on his various occupational ambitions throughout childhood.  Undated, in full: "Dear Mr. Corry: / I think I first wanted to be a test pilot, or a private detective.  Also a movie star, but that seemed unrealistic.  Then I wanted to work for Walt Disney, and as I got older to be a New Yorker Cartoonist.  It was not until I was in my late teens that being a writer struck me as feasible. / Best wishes, / John Updike."  In very fine condition.  5 x 3 inches (12.7 x 7.7 centimeters).

John Updike was an American novelist, poet, short story writer, art critic, and literary critic. He is one of only three authors (the others being Booth Tarkington and William Faulkner) to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction more than once.
