Hepburn, Katharine. (1907–2003). "I have read it. Didn't think it was good for me." - Autograph Note Signed.
Humorous ANS from the legendary actress, penned to a letter offering her a role in a production of the play Kind Lady.  The original typed letter signed (2 February 1979;  1 pp. on Majestic Theatre stationary), written by the general manager of the Majestic Theatre, reads in part "I have acquired the right to do a first-class production of Edward Chodorov's play, 'kind Lady.'  Would you be interested in playing it: / 1. On Broadway / 2. On the road for a tour, possibly but not necessarily, followed by a New York production. / 3. As a try-out in a summer theatre, with New York and/or the road in mind."  Hepburn has responded to each of these inquiries with a succinct, handwritten "No," before adding the message "I have read it.  Didn't think it good for me— Katharine Hepburn" in the lower margin, also adding twice "Thank you" to either side of the typed line reading "I watched 'The Corn Is Green' Monday night. It was magnificent."  Mailing folds, else fine.  8.5 x 7.25 inches (21.6 x 18.4 cm.).
