Energetic oversized photograph of the Carroll Dickerson Band during a performance at Chicago's Sunset Cafe in 1922, with beloved vaudeville singer Frankie "Half-Pint" Jaxon shown mid-split front and center!  In fine condition.  Sight 23.25 x 14.5 inches (59 x 36.8 cm.); framed (without glass) to an overall size of 30 x 20 inches (76.2 x 50.8 cm.).  


Jazz violinist and bandleader Carroll Dickerson was largely associated with the city of Chicago throughout his career.  His high profile as a bandleader in both Chicago and New York City attracted many notable musicians and performers to his orchestra over the years, including Louis Armstrong, Earl "Fatha" Hines, Buster Bailey, Zutty Singleton, Frankie "Half-Pint" Jaxon, James Mundy, and Johnny Dunn, to name a few.  Dickerson's first experience as a band director was during his residency at the Sunset Cafe, where he played from 1922–1924.
