Enormous AQS from the great cellist, who has written "Happiness to all! / Pablo Casals / 1968" in black felt tip to the middle of a 18.5 x 24.5 inch piece of paper.  From the personal collection of Czech photographer Richard de Grab, a prominent figure in the postwar art world.  Very fine condition.  (40 x 51 cm.).

Throughout his career, postwar contemporary artist and photographer Richard de Grab produced many portraits of renowned artists and musicians whom he often befriended, including Rubinstein, Casals, Cocteau, Picasso, Miro, Prévert, Hartung, Soulage, and Poliakoff. Salvador Dali, another subject and friend to de Grab, affectionately nicknamed him "The Turtle ", with several drawings dedicated to him over the years with inscriptions reading, "Bonjor Tortue", and "Pour la Tortue".
