Charming halftone photograph of the American actress best known for originating the role of Gypsy Rose Lee in the 1959 smash musical Gypsy.  Church, shown here holding a lamb and nuzzling with a llama, has signed to the right margin in black ink.  The caption below reads "In Gypsy, Sandra sings to a lamb called Amy.  Here, she visits Amy and a llama at theatrical menagerie where they are kept."  In fine condition.  6 x 8 inches (15.2 x 20.3 cm.).

From the collection of Paul McMahon, a critic, photographer and artist who worked for more than 13 years touring with Marlene Dietrich as the icon’s stage manager, announcer, dresser, secretary and escort, and later spent 25 years as an arts and entertainment reviewer and photographer with Gay Community News, Esplanade, Tommy’s Connection, The Mirror, Bay Windows and other publications.
