[Saint-Saëns, Camille. (1835–1921)]. Postcard Photograph of Saint-Saëns with five members of the Société des instruments anciens de Paris.

Period postcard photograph of the great French composer seated in front of five members of the Société des instruments anciens de Paris—W. Perilhou, Marcel Casadesus, Devilliers, Henry[!] Casadesus, [Jacques] Malkine.  No date (1901?).  By Breitkopf & Härtel, London, but "Printed in Berlin"—all printing to verso is in English.  Oblong format, 3.5 x 5.5 inches (8.5 x 13.5 cm).  Light ghosting and silvering, small nicks to edges, else in fine condition.

The Société des instruments anciens de Paris was allegedly founded in 1901, but there is evidence of a (different?) group of the same name in the 1890s already; more likely, 1901 was the year when musicians from the Casadesus family joined and took control of it.
