Tietjens, Thérèse. (1831-1877). Autograph Letter to Wilma Neruda Hallé. A fine signed 1-page letter from the important Hungarian soprano who was a star in London from her 1858 debut until she collapsed onstage during a performance of "Lucrezia Borgia" and died two months later of cancer at the age of 46.

The letter is addressed to "Miss Hallé," the great violinist Wilhelmina Neruda who was the wife of Sir Charles Hallé. In full: "My dear Miss Hallé, I am indeed sorry to give you a refusal, but on Saturdays, if I don't sing, I go out of town until Monday, otherwise I would come with great pleasure. Believe yours sincerely, Therese Tietjens."
