Berlioz, Hector. (1803 - 1869). Autograph Letter to Habeneck. An interesting autograph letter signed "H. Berlioz," addressed to Francois-Antoine Habeneck (1781-1849), the important French violinist and conductor. 1 page, dated "Jeudi matin." Addressed on integral address leaf to "Monsieur Habeneck à l'opera." Unfortunately toned, separating along one crease, heavily chipped along edges, slightly affecting signature. Nevertheless, an interesting short letter, sending word that for the past four days he has been sick in bed with bronchitis and will thus be unable to attend the rehearsal tonight. He leaves matters in Habeneck's sensible hands, noting that in any case, the cuts are clearly marked in the parts and that Leborne [the copyist] had affirmed and tried them.

Sold together with a postcard photograph portrait.
