Reinhardt, Django. (1910 - 1953) [Armstrong, Grapelli, Hines, Teagarden, Mezzrow, Shaw, Panazzie etc.]. Signed "Festival International du Jazz" Program.

An approximately 9.25 x 12 inch programme for the "Festival International du Jazz" in Nice, from February 1948, signed to the front cover by an impressive array of jazz greats, and featuring a large fountain pen signature of Django Reinhardt towards the top right. Other signers include Milton Mezzrow, Baby Dodds, Earl Hines (twice), Stephane Grappelli, Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, Arvell Shaw, Big Sid Catlett, Hughes Panassie and Barney Bigard, among others. A 1.5" tear to the right border, not touching any signatures, but going through to the back of the programme, with overall age-toning. The top-right and lower-right corners have been water stained and each bears several tears and chips - the lower-right corner damage does unfortunately effect Grappelli's signature, though it is still clearly legible. The other pages of the programme are similarly effected by water staining and tears. A very rare grouping of signatures, and the first time that we have seen an item signed by both Reinhardt and Grappelli.
