Dubois, Théodore. (1837-1924). Signed Photograph.

Signed postcard photograph of the important French organist, composer and teacher who won the Prix de Rome in 1861 and succeeded Franck as the choirmaster of the Basilica of Sainte-Clotilde. Already the choirmaster of the Church of the Madeleine, in 1877 he succeeded Saint-Saens as the organist there. An influential teacher at the Conservatoire, he taught Paul Dukas and Florent Schmitt, among others. As a composer, he wrote operas, ballets, symphonies and oratorios - the best known of which is his "Les Sept Paroles du Christ." Boldly signed and inscribed in a light area of the image and in very fine condition.
