Hindemith, Paul. (1895-1963). "Alla Battaglia" 1951 Program with Illustrations by Hindemith. A very rare original program, dated May 21st, 1951, from a performance of the [Yale] Collegium Musicum, a group devoted to the performances of late medieval, Renaissance, and baroque music under Paul Hindemith's direction during his tenure at Yale University. The present printed program for Alla battaglia, includes 3 pages of music (a canon for audience with English text) in Hindemith's hand and is illustrated on the cover with a spirited battlefield sketch by the composer himself, signed lower right "P.H." within the matrix. Hindemith's work was apparently paired on the program with Gabrieli's work of the same name, though this is not noted on the program.

Edges toned and nicked, horizontal fold and some wrinkles. Rare, only 2 copies located - at Yale and in the Library of Congress (a later reprint).
