I met André Gide yesterday to whom I spoke about your Diane [de Pitiers]. He is very enthusiastic about it and thinks it will be a wonderful thing. I know that [Jacques] Ibert [1890-1962] works in a great exaltation. With all my heart he thanks you for your precious collaboration, dear Madam, and asks you to believe in my best thoughts and in my feelings of true sympathy. Ida Rubinstein." Elisabeth de Gramont (1875-1954) was the librettist of Ida Rubinstein's ballet Diane de Poitiers, then a work in progress, while Jacques Ibert (1890-1962) composed the music. The ballet had its first performance at the Paris Opéra on April 30, 1934. The writer André Gide (1869-1951) was a longtime friend of Rubinstein.
