Signed Christmas card from the great soprano, who has penned a note on a folding card with a mounted photograph of a painted portrait of her, hand identified as "The Bonynges at Home! Portrait is Painted by Michael Shemett." Penned from Brooklyn, NY 24 November, 1982, the letter is addressed to Robert Tollett, the celebrated autograph dealer of B.Altman & Co. in NY and reads in full "Dear All, Many thanks for the charming gift - it will be most useful and instructive.  I do hope you not only have a happy Thanksgiving but an enjoyable Christmas and New Year. Sincerely, Joan Sutherland." Together with the original transmissal envelope, both very fine. 6 x 4 inches (15 x 10cm).
