Original promotional full-length portrait of the Russian dancer in bridal costume by White Studio, New York (after 1916?).  Signature "White, N.Y." in negative.  Copyright hand stamp for White Studio and label with typed blurb to verso.  Unevenly cut, ca. 10 x 5.5 inches (25.4 x 14 cm).  In very good condition.

The Ballets Russes made their first American tour in 1916.  The passage in the blurb, "Tchernichowa [sic] takes one of the principal roles not only in [The Firebird] but also in 'L'Apres Mide d'un Faune', which has excited so much attention since its first performance in New York," suggests that the photograph, or at least the blurb, dates from a later year.

Tchernicheva, Lubov. (1890–1976). Photographic portrait in costume for "The Firebird"
